"You know what really grinds my gears? Nobody's come up with a new priest and a rabbi joke in like thirty years. Ya know? I mean, okay, ah, umm. Priest and a rabbi go, go onto the supermarket, and, uh, the priest wants to buy a ham. And the rabbi says, "Ah, I can't eat it. It's forbidden." Couldn't eat it. Not allowed, pigs are like superheroes to them. Is it perfect? No, but I, I don't see you coming up with anything. And that people is what grinds my gears." - Peter Griffin

You know what really grinds my gears... the MTV VMAs

I wrote this about a month ago but for some reason I forgot to hit the "publish post" button. Better late than never right? Enjoy!

Music videos are a dying art. Yes, an art! The videos were a way for music artists to convey their music onto a live canvas. Does anyone else remember actually looking forward to seeing the video to their favorite song or artist? I remember watching videos like 2pac - California Love, Aha - Take on me, Lauryn Hill - That Thing, Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph, Blind Melon - No Rain, Busta Rhymes - Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See, Dr. Dre - Nuthin but a G thang and every Michael Jackson Video. And when you watch a great video like that you actually get an insight into the thought, emotion, passion and genius that these artists put forth into making not only the video, but also the song itself.

MTV is short for Music TeleVision, right? Yet, they never show videos on a consistent enough basis to warrant that name. The only time I know that they still show actual music videos is during a 3 hour block @ 3am. And the last show they had that was dedicated ti music videos was TRL...Which by the way, was cancelled last year. What ever happened to shows like Yo! MTV Raps, headbangers ball, even beavis and butthead showed music videos. So I say that they change the networks name to... RTV Reality TeleVision. Every show on MTV  now is a mind-numbingly, idiotic excuse of a television reality show.
MTV is no longer about music, nor about music videos. So how can they effectively have an award show honoring music videos? Music videos that they neither show, nor has anyone seen. (as a sidenote, how does shakiras video not get nominated for hottest video, ever!)

In closing... Mtv, please show music videos or change your gaddamn name.... And that my friends is what's grinding my gears!

What really grinds my gears... the awkard silence.

You know when you'e having a conversation with someone and then for whatever reason the conversstion stalls and the people involved just stare at each other awkwardly... Yeah... Ummm... Uhhhh... Yeah....

Next time I'm in that kinda situation I'm gonna give us something to be awkwardly silent about... I'm simply just gonna fart! You wanna be silent, well I'm gonna break that silence.

You know what really grinds my gears... The Beginnings

"You know what really grinds my gears... Where exactly in the bible does it say a man can't fire off some knuckle children in the privacy of his own neighbors living room while his neighbors at work cause I don't have a DVD player. Well I don't know where it says it cause the bible is way too long to read!"

You know what really grinds my gears... That Gaddamn Negativity!

Growing up I never really thought of myself as a negative person. But more and more I know I have become just that. I'm trying to think of when this whole negative streak started and to be honest I can't really pinpoint when and how it came to fruition. I would say that many circumstances in my life have built me up to be that pessimistic person that you all know.... and love (yeah, right!) .

I think that I use the negativity as way to not be dissapointed. I would look at a situation and see how and where things could go bad. So in turn, I wouldnt be suprised when shit hits the fan. It was almost like self sabotage. It's like the old saying, "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst." Except that I would do it backwards by... "Preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best." I know it doesnt seem too different, but when your initial thought is negative instead of positive, it kinda sets the tone in a negative light.

I'm starting to believe that I am sabotaging myself by having this overall pessimistic outlook. To this point, I feel I must change my outlook on things. A whole life change is something that can take a lot of time and effort. But I've got all the time in the world...It's now time to show the effort. Positive thinking can go a long way... Hopefully, it can go a long ways to getting me this gaddamn job.

What really grinds my gears... You don't have to do anything, you CHOOSE to do those things...

You know what really grinds my gears? When people bitch, moan and complain about things that they supposedly "have to do".
Look, I get it. Sometimes there's things in life that you feel you have to do without provocation. But when you complain and gripe about those things the whole time you do them, it just makes the experience that much worse for yourself and for others around you. I'll give a simple example of this.. When someone complains that they have to go to work or go to school or even when they complain that they have to pay for bills or expensive items that they want. Here's the thing... you don't have to do anything!!! (I know this sounds counterproductive but stay with me) I mean really it's not like someone' s pointing a gun to your head and saying, "If you don't go or pay I'll kill you.", you don't have to do any thing... you choose to do those things!!! Allow me to reiterate that... "YOU DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING! YOU CHOOSE TO DO THOSE THINGS!" There is a big difference between having to do something and choosing to do something.  You don't have to go to  school. You choose to go to school because you know that it will lead to bigger and better things in the future. You don't have to go to work, but you know that working and getting paid is a means to an end. My only point is that, if you choose to do something it might go by a little easier if ya just did it. With no second thoughts...

What Really Grinds My Gears... The Catalyst

I'm sorry but I'm starting this off with a rant! Ok. I get it. We're in a recession. Blah, blah, blah! Or are we? I'm tired of the mainstream media and even OUR own government driving this down our throats. Has anyone noticed that the media is driving up fears amongst people by continually stating that we are on the decline. They are creating a climate of financial fear and apparently, it's working! But then again, maybe this is what they want?! Don't allow yourself to be fooled. On another note, how can we possibly still be in a recession when the Super Bowl just passed and advertisers were paying $3 million dollars for a 3 minute commercial?!?!?!?! Someone please explain that to me?!

And don't even get me started on all this bailout shit! Cause First off, if it's a bailout... then why is it that only the big corporations that are going bankrupt are the only ones benefiting. It's cause they most likely have powerful government ties lobbying for them and their cause. What about all the individual people losing their homes and their jobs? Why is it that the big 'American' car companies and big banks are the ones getting bailed out? Isn't America a free market? I understand that if these companies go under that the economic effect would be great. With loss of American jobs, unemployment etc. But bailing out companies that aren't helping themselves by creating a superior product or service is ludicrous. You know what all this has led to... read this:
Bailout Crisis: Irresponsibility, Greed Has Overcome Companies
It has led to frivolous spending of TAXPAYERS hard earned money, by ignorant corporation heads who have gotten free money from our government, as a gift for their own personal failures!

Ok, now that I have gotten that rant out of the way.
You Know What Really Grinds My Gears... Gasoline is, was and has been The Catalyst for the financial woes of this country! Think about this. Really think about this. Ok. Whether or not you want to believe it, we went to war against Iraq for their oil. They have it, we need it. Since we're the "most powerful" country in the world, why not just go in there and get it! Right? With this thought we went and attacked Iraq. Iraq and all other big oil producing companies in turn, jack up the price on oil exponentially.

as a sidenote: I can remember when I started driving. It was 1999 and a gallon of gas cost $0.99 at its lowest point. C'mon! 99 cent gas! Just know that it will never be seen at that price ever again!

With the price of oil going up, it created a trickle down effect on every facet of the economy. From everyday products and supplies, to everyday services and consumers. To explain this... Since barrels of oil cost more, then gasoline costs more. Since gasoline costs more, it costs more to ship things cross country. With shipping costing more due to gasoline prices inflating, in turn every product that you buy at a store has to be shipped/trucked in at a higher price. If gas is at a higher price it costs more for those truck drivers to truck em in. Thus, the price on ALL products across the board goes up. Things like food, drinks, toothpaste, deodorant, computers, socks, underwear, etc. Pretty much everything you buy! Also, not to mention it costing more for YOU personally to get from point A to point B. Whether it be in your own car, on a bike that now costs more due to shipping costs or even a bus that is now charging more.

Now, with the price on all services and products going up due to the hike in gasoline prices. Why is it that now that gasoline prices have gone down, that the prices on services, goods and products are NOT going down as well???????????? Gasoline was The Catalyst for prices on everything to be raised! A coincidence, possibly. But highly unlikely. Conspiracy, I say it's possible!

I'll leave you with another example and all I ask, is that you make your own conclusion to this. A gallon of whole milk cost on average approximately $3.00 in 2001. Today a gallon of whole milk would run you an average of $3.62. I know that doesn't seem like much. But think of how many people buy a gallon of whole milk a day. That $0.62 per gallon can add up to hundreds of thousands in a day and billions in a year. Think about it. Now, more importantly think about EVERYTHING YOU BUY today and raise it by 20%.
